On June 26th, my sister, Heather DeKeyser-Smith, was diagnosed with stage IIB, grade 3 triple negative breast cancer. Since then, she has had tons of appointments, to meet her cancer team, including her amazing oncologist and surgeon, had multiple scans and MRIs, biopsies and then surgery to remove lymph nodes, her chemo port put in, purchased her first 2 wigs, and has completed 3 chemotherapy treatments so far.
She will do 16 chemo treatments in the next 20 weeks. Then she will have surgery, then radiation. This page has been created to help her and her husband, Jeremy Smith, with their medical bills. They need to pay an $8000 deductible in 2020, and since her treatments will extend into next year they will need to pay this in 2021 as well. As many of you may know, my sister and her husband are both entrepreneurs; they both run their own businesses. Heather's treatments will interfere will both of their capabilities to work over the next several months and therefore this help is very much appreciated by her and her husband.
Thank you so much for the love from our family and friends already. Her cancer is fast and aggressive, but her doctors are faster and more aggressive. A year from now, God-willing, breast cancer will be behind her. Prayers and positive thoughts are also very much appreciated. Thank you so, so much in advance! I will try to keep this page updated with her progress as well.
