Hello- I’m Jill, Heather Ashenfelter’s Mom. Heather has been experiencing “episodes” for the past few years and after many attempts to find answers she was recently diagnosed with a large brain tumor. She will be having surgery soon at Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore. The type of tumor is called a meningioma and typically doesn’t cause problems until it grows and calcifies (hardens) which is what has happened to Heather’s tumor. It has encased her right optic nerve (sight) and right carotid artery (one of 2 main arteries carrying blood/oxygen to the brain). Medical staff at Johns Hopkins have formed a team of top neurosurgeons to perform the surgery and hope to preserve her sight and ability to function without any complications.
Heather was a familiar face at Walmart while shopping for others. She is unable to work at this time and is staying with family members. She is very strong and determined and remains optimistic. We invite you to join us with prayers for her surgery and for a full recovery. The funds collected will go toward her care, travel and living expenses while she is unable to work. When she gets back to her normal life pattern, she’ll be excited to be helping others again. Prayers are very welcomed. Thank you all for the love, concern and prayers you have given to Heather this far in her journey.
