Heather and Jeff’s fight for baby A
Donation protected
Dear Jayhawk, Royals, Chiefs fans, family, friends and strangers:
Please help support Heather and Jeff Hawkins and their brand-new son, Atticus.
On December 18th, Atticus Fitzgerald Hawkins was born more than 3 months premature weighing only 1 pound, 12 ounces. He was immediately taken to the NICU at KU Medical Center and will remain there until at least the end of March. His hospital stay will require a lot of sacrifices for the family and will undoubtedly lead to many unforeseen costs. Heather and Jeff have two other young kids at home in Lawrence, KS: Maverick (8) and Sienna (3). They are doing their best to keep things as normal as possible for them, while also commuting daily to KU Med to be with Atticus. Their transportation expenses are already adding up just due to driving back and forth. Among many others, a main concern is the amount they will owe for things that insurance may not cover. We know this is a stressful and scary time from the whole Hawkins family and we’re asking for anyone wanting to help take some of the financial burden off, to please donate to this fund.
Jeff is a former KU basketball player, and does the color commentary for the American Sports Network. He works as the Recreation Programmer at Lawrence Parks and Rec and spends his days shaping and encouraging the community’s children through basketball. Heather works for the KU Alumni Association and is an integral part of the many activities and events at KU. Heather and Jeff volunteer so much of their time to the university and the community and now it’s our turn to rally behind them and support their beautiful family.
Any type of donation helps. You can donate money here, through the gofundme page, or contact Alex McAnderson at [email redacted] to sign up to take the family a meal.
As always, your prayers for Atticus, Heather, Jeff, Mav and Sienna are appreciated.
Thank you for your generosity and God bless!
