Heather & Jenn become liver sisters!
Donation protected
As many of you may know, in 2008 Heather Boyd was diagnosed with Crohn's Disease and Primary Schlerosing Cholangitis (PSC). PSC has no known cure and causes strictures in the bile ducts and they can get clogged with stones and cause the bile to "pool" in the liver, which causes severe liver damage. It can also cause bile duct cancer and other major health complications. For the first 10 years, Heather did not have many complications. In 2019, she was hospitalized 3 times with severe attacks of cholangitis. At that time, the medical team decided that she should pursue a liver transplant. In January 2020, Heather was placed on the national liver donation list. The medical team determined that a living donor was the best option for her and could be the quickest way to recovery. In June 2020, we found a match! On Thursday, June 18, 2020 Jenn Raynes, a close friend of Heather's cousin and her family, will become Heather's living liver donor sister. Although we have an answer to our prayers, they both have many obstacles to overcome. Both Heather and Jenn have families and young children. So they will need support both financially and emotionally. Jenn, who lives in Danville, will have travel expenses, meals and lodging. Heather, will have an extended stay in the hospital and co-insurance and expenses for medication not covered by her insurance. Any donation is appreciated and prayers are always welcomed!
