Chris was recently diagnosed with a rare autoimmune disease called polymyositis. This debilitating disease causes Chris constant severe muscle pain, weakness, fatigue, muscle loss, shortness of breath, facial swelling, elevated heart rate, difficulty swallowing and holding food down. Simple every day tasks, such as showering or getting dressed have become very painful and exhausting. This awful disease is treated with high doses of steroids and low-dose chemotherapy, leaving him extremely immunocompromised and at high risk for infection- not ideal during a pandemic. The meds also make him feel absolutely wiped out and even more sore.
Chris is his family’s sole provider. If you know him, you know that he is the strongest, hardest working, most industrious, helpful husband and father of three children. He coaches little league football and baseball, and is faithful in his church. He not only works full-time, but also supports his family through his carpentry and home remodeling company, Southern Wood Company. He has lost 50% of his full-time income due to ordered medical leave and all of his carpentry income due to physical restraints caused by the disease. He has also amassed huge medical bills for untold amounts of doctors visits and testing.
Because Chris’ medical case is rare and complicated, he has been referred to a specialist in Atlanta for further evaluation. This is an added expense on an already stretched budget. Amy is currently schooling their three children, ages 5, 6, and 11 while the school system is not meeting in person during the pandemic.
We are asking for help to offset his loss of income, medical bills, and to cover the cost of his trip to Atlanta. We want Chris to use all of his energy to heal and not live in constant stress over finances.
Thank you so much for caring about this precious family.
