Heath regularly counted up the number of days that he knew his wife, Lori, and posted on social media about how grateful he was to have her in his life.
“I met Lori 3,900 days ago and it's been smooth sailing ever since,” he wrote on December 12.
Even though Heath was a morning FM radio host in both Regina and Saskatoon, and Lori was a newspaper editor, it somehow took until 11 years ago for their paths to cross.
But holy moly, he never wanted to let her go.
Almost seven years ago, Heath and Lori got married and built the kind of relationship we all aspire to—full of love, support, humour and a deep gratitude for each other.

On Day 3,968 of their beautiful love story, her birthday, Heath passed away from cancer. He was surrounded by his four children and their partners — Brielle (Jaylin), Jace (Jasmine), Damon, Sadie (Jayden) — his sisters, Lana and Tracy, his nephew, Ayden, and his wife, Lori. He is also survived by his mother, Marge.
Heath had many friends, was endlessly generous and was active in the community. He was heavily involved with his kids growing up as they played football, hockey and other sports, and he was recently recognized in a CTV news story for his devotion to baseball. He was widely admired for his commentating on televised sports events, including curling, which he enjoyed as an excellent player and a fan.
As an owner at Planet S, sales manager at the StarPhoenix and Leader-Post and as a marketing consultant for Harvard Media, Heath was a beloved leader and coworker. He could make any project or task fun, but was serious about taking care of those around him.
Exceedingly generous, Heath was motivated by sharing what he had and serving others. He served on various non-profit boards and volunteered his time for multiple organizations over the years.
When Lori brought Heath’s cancer medications back to the pharmacy after he died, the staff cried. He loved making them laugh.
Heath brought so much sunshine to this city and our lives.
As Lori grieves and makes plans for his funeral, friends are hoping to ease some of the burden by raising money for Heath's funeral and to support his family with other costs.
We know that many, many people are asking, “What can I do?”
A contribution to this fund will honour Heath’s memory and pay tribute to this beautiful love story.
We love you both.
