Hi you lovely people out there
I have set what will be a big challenge for me . I am going to be doing a 12 hour sponsored walk. This will take place on Saturday 6th April from 8am-8pm. I will be doing a loop round oulton and woodlesford. All the money raised will go to the chemo ward J80 Bexley wing st James hospital Leeds. This ward is looking after my brave and wonderful sister JUILE who has TRIPLE NEGATIVE BREAST CANCER. The money that is raised will go to providing heat pads for chemo patients. These are used to help keep patients veins warm so they can be cannulated easier, to receive their chemo. Many patients spend week after week receiving chemo and this takes a toll on their veins, resulting in them shutting down. These heat pads ARE NOT SUPPLIED by the NHS. The ward relies on donations to be able to purchase them. Sitting on the ward week after week with my sister you realise how beneficial these pads are. Without them patients have to soak there hands in containers of warm water to try and warm their veins up. With the amount of patients receiving chemo there isn’t enough heat pads to go around. Let’s try and make their chemo sessions more bearable and comfortable. All donations no matter how small will be greatly appreciated. So if you see me walking around the village on the 6th April give me a wave or you are more than welcome to join me and get a few steps in. This is going to be tough challenge for me but it’s nothing compared to what my brave sister and all the patients on the chemo ward are going through every day of there lives
