Hearts for H&H Brown
My name is Carrie Jo Brown and I am writing to you on behalf of my children Hailey (13) and Hayden (11). Much of my children's lives have been spent going to countless doctor appointments... My children were often sick and we couldn't figure out why. I would get fusterated... Why, why can't our children just be healthy! They have been seen by doctors and specialists and finally we found out that my husband and I both carry the HCM gene which is rare. HCM is a genetic disorder that causes the thickening of the heart wall.
In January, 2014 both of my children were been diagnosed with Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy (HCM). They both enherited 2 gene mutations for this disease making them severe cases. Since then Hailey and Hayden have both undergone surgery to have an Automatic Implantable Cardioverter Defibrillator (AICD) placed within their chests. The AICD uses electrical pulses or shocks to help control life-threatening arrhythmias, especially those that can cause sudden cardiac arrest. By doing this procedure, management of HCM survival is improved but there is constant monitoring, medical expenses and travel to John Hopkins in Baltimore, MD. More procedures are expected in the future.
My husband and I are both hard working people and this has been extremely hard on us. If you ask any of my friends or family it's not in my nature to ask for help. I work at a local farm putting in as many hours as I possibly can as well as my husband is working 3 jobs after retiring from 20 years serving in the Army's National Guard.
The funds donated will go toward medical, travel and other expenses incurred from this horrible disease. Every little bit helps ! Thank you so much for your support.
Gratefully yours,
Carrie
