The Bridge: A Virtual Rent Party

Many of you know me and my heart's dream to connect humans and animals in transformative experiences. This was the birth of Adventures for the Wild at Heart- my travel, retreats, workshops and coaching practice that invites us all to embrace our own wildness and learn from the creatures on this planet. I believe these connections with them and ourselves will change our planet and relationship with our world.
Five years ago, I traveled around the world and experienced my heart opening to this as the next steps in my life. I remembered my dear friend Gretchen reflecting back to me, "Dee, you have come alive more than I have ever seen you on this journey. When you speak about this you radiate delight and love about joining animals and people together".
I began making the steps to transition from full time ministry and into interim ministry with the intention of creating even more space in my life so that I could continue launching my heart's dream. I moved, downsized many of my possessions, clearing the way and generating resources for this time of in between. (I am smiling appreciating myself--I sold 47 items on Craiglist!) I have been investing my energy, resources, and attention to what has felt to me like a big courageous leap at age 54 (from pension, health insurance, salary) to follow my heart's dream and life calling.
I find myself today having exhausted my current and saved resources and not having completed that transition bridge to the other side of full sustainability. I created a payment to a company that was for a signficant amount of my reserves and am facing that I may not receive even a percentage of these resources in refund. I know I have learned enormous gems from this life lesson in agreements and about my own value of investing in my well-being. This experienced has also spurred me on to make clear, mutually supportive agreements with the other businesses I’m currently dealing with.
I feel excited as I see movement in many of my investments and my seedings for future growth. I was a featured link in the recent Creative Justice Ministries educational curriculum; I am speaking before congressional leaders regarding the Endangered Species Act; I have been asked to generate other trips with groups of people in the future; I have future workshops and consultations scheduled with churches, Air Force Base officers, and clergy; and I am receiving coaching referrals. I have a couple of potential part-time jobs that would also give me the financial resources to enable me to keep pursuing my dreams.
I can see and taste the growth in the future and find I am faced with the financial realities of this current moment. I have listed a few pieces of furniture (including my beloved kayak) and sold a few pieces on Craigislist to pay for rent. I have had big moments of fear--do I call this all a miss and go back to doing what I know I can do?--and I feel the fear through (I wiggle a lot) and recommit to following my heart’s dream.
Thus this Go Fund Me account and what I am calling a “virtual rent party” are another way I am creating an opening to be supported in my calling. A virtual rent party is an idea from the 20's. People would throw a party to invite friends asking friends to toss in money to support them at challenging times in their lives. Another approach to this was the scene from, “It's a Wonderful Life,” neighbors helping each other around the Christmas tree.
The money I collect from my beloved friends will be used to pay for rent while I continue building and strengthening Adventures for the Wild at Heart and stepping into the part-time job market to sustain the financial resources for moving forward .
Your support would mean so much to me both financially and in my own expanded embrace of following my life's passion. I feel teary even typing and trying on other's investment in me. Thank you <3 Dee
