Help a refugee family-The Zarzars

Spende geschützt
Meet the Zarzar
Family.

The Zarzar family: Mohamed (father, 39 years old), Dania (mother, 35); their lovely daughter, Joudy (13 years old), their sons: Sabri (11 years old) Ahmad (8 years old) Geith ( 6 years old) and Leith ( 3 years old) -- escaped Damascus as soon as the war started and sought refuge in Jordan, where they finally were granted refugee status and came to America 2 months ago in San Diego, CA.
All seven of them live in a small apartment and are currently depending on public and private non-profit resources and support to begin their new lives here in America. The culture shock will be great, but as of now the children are in school and I feel confident that they will soon pick up the language. Dania is a wonderful mother and her only concern is that the kids are happy. Mohamed is a loving father and can’t wait to get started with their new life. The kids are incredible kind, caring and appreciate any toy they can get their little curious hands on.
They are a friendly, gracious, young and welcoming family. Mohamed, the family breadwinner as the sole working-age male, speaks a little English but is working diligently on learning English.  He worked in a factory back in Syria and fixed watches. Mohamed is eager to find a job and start contributing to society as well as providing for his family.
They have been through unimaginable hardship and I feel as an American, as a member of the human race who won the luck-lottery by being born who and when and where I was--to do something to help them.  I am asking for your help, too.
If you can make a donation to my GoFundMe page, I would be incredibly grateful.  Their list of needs is not long however I am seeking to find them the remaining balance of their rent for the year and a mini van (I am working on finding a job for Mohammed) The children each has one pair of shoes, so ANYTHING you can contribute will be greatly appreciated.
I have no doubt that as lucky as we are, many of us are filled with the spirit of gratitude for all the gifts in our lives--the health of our children, the safety of our family, the bounty of food and drink and merriment we share with our friends--I hope we can dedicate ourselves as well to loving our neighbors in need and being living examples of goodwill here on earth.

Additional information:

1. Who Am I?  My name is Karlie Alonso, I'm a world history teacher  and I am a volunteer with Heart4Refugees, a nonprofit organization based in San Diego that seeks to ensure the 1000 Syrian refugees who have been resettled here are supported during their transition to new lives in America.  ( https://www.facebook.com/Heart4Refugees/?fref=nf)

2.  Where am I from?  The beautiful city of San Diego, CA.

3. How do I know the Zarzar Family?  They are my "adopted" family. With the current state of affairs in my government I felt the need to do something about all the bigotry, injustice and war, so I asked around my friends and colleagues and found Heart4Refugees. I sincerely hope to be able to offer comfort, help and friendship as they navigate life in America.

4. How will the funds will be used?  I will be using the funds to help meet their needs (clothing, household goods; used mini van: 1700 to 3,000 and their missing rent amount of 400 dollars a month for a year= 4,800)
The amount would total: 7,800 dollars. (plus gofundme fees)
End goal is for them to be employed and financially independent.

5. Will funds be given directly to the family?  No.  Heart4Refugees strongly recommends the funds be used on the family's behalf rather than being delivered directly to the family (for example, it is better to pay rent to the family's landlord than it is to just give cash to the family).  This way, volunteers can coordinate to ensure the maximum number of families get what they need.

Myself and the Zarzar family will be thankful for any donation you can provide. Thank you all so much for visiting the page and helping out during these challenging circumstances. God Bless.
