Shards Against Humanity - Termianlly ill Author

My name is Jared O. Nieto, and I’m the author of Shards Against Humanity. I’m a recovery crystal meth addict from New Mexico. I returned home in 2024 after my ex boyfriend kicked me out of our apartment because he decided his new boyfriend was a better option.

I was diagnosed with Pulmonary Hypertension in 2022 and have since gotten 3 separate medical opinions from Denver, Plano, and San Diego. They told me the same thing I already knew. To not stress, not have anxiety, and don’t smoke crystal meth.

I have never followed the orders of my doctor’s because I’m not sure I was diagnoses adequately. I’m aware that I have a hole in my heart. I’ve seen the photo. I’ve seen the tests, but I’m still smoking marijuana. I’m still vaping my geek bars, but I’m not a fan of crystal meth. In fact, i hate it. I chose the title, “Shards Against Humanity” because it’s a hilarious play on words. And a lesson in not judging a book by its cover.

While I was in Denver getting the 3rd opinion from Dr. Kevin at the National Jewish Hospital, I was evicted from 2 AirBNB suggestions. And I was refused treatment by the security guard at the NJH because he assumed I was a Caucasian junkie. Unfortunately for me, and my credit score. I’m in fact a half white and half Hispanic terminally ill author who’s resorted to making a GoFund Me because healthcare in this country is a joke.

What’s not a joke is that’s way people treat one another in this country based on their looks. I’ve learned the hard way just how hard it is to get ahead in life by adopting looks that others might assume are not appropriate. That decision has cost me my future employment, my family, and most of my friends.

Fortunately, it hasn’t killed me yet. Thought I wish it would so I can stop making annoying social media posts for people to go read.

I’m not sure people like to read anymore, but in the off chance they do…

I hope they can donate money to a struggling American in need.

Because I am an American and I am in need.

Mr. President. The first chapter of my book is written for you. I wrote that letter in the kitchen of my elderly grandmother because I have always wanted to write the President. My Godmother instilled in me the importance and the power of writing letters.

I’d love to request an obscene amount of money as I’ve always wanted to see my hero and favorite Author, Chelsea Handler in Iceland before I soak in the geothermal hot springs of Iceland. But I’ll settle for just enough money to purchase a cheap motel room and wait until this heart of mine eventually fails.
