Heart Warrior Blake

My Sister Autumn and her fiance Chris were  Blessed with baby Blake August 21 2017. On that day they came to realize he was special and their lives would never be the same.      When we were little my sister always had a baby in her arms, playing house and being a little mom. I knew when she grew up she was gona be the best Mother to her children. How is it possible that this woman who waited her whole life for a baby had to wait to touch her newborn son after a troubled labor.         Determined to figure out what was wrong  Doctors went to work to figure out Blakes condition and in the process brought about many tears, questions, tests, and heartache. In the end Autumn and Chris came to know that they were gona be a Heart Mom and Dad  (Female and Male warrior to fight alongside all heart heros) to a little baby with a Congenital Heart Defect.     Blake's first heart Cath was Dec. 8th, a heart conference was held and determined his first Open heart surgery was to be on December 11th at 4months old. Autumn and Chris arranged an immediate baptism at childrens hospital and dedication to be "The one" at Allison Park Church an surrounded him with prayer and family before his surgery and healing of his CHD.   It was December, the holidays a time where everyone is in good spirits and cheer. But the troubling reality was that Blake's chest was open and was on a ventilator. How could this be? How can anyone enjoy Christmas this way? But Autumn and Chris were rocks, their strength was inspiring.    Baby Blake finally gets to come home in January.   He works alongside many therapists to reverse all of the set backs and milestones he missed while in the hospital. Starting to talk and crawl was a miracle after so long. Even making it down for a lil trip to Florida to see Gram and Pap, Blake was on the mend and healing beautifully.         Doing a routine check up on Blake's progress and heart, no one ever thought that a heart Cath done on Aug. 31st would come to show  that Blake yet again would have to go in for another open  heart surgery. Everyone was broken and saddened over the news. He had made such great progress. Why? Why Was this happening?!     After yet another conference they decided the surgery be done on October 2nd 2018. Blake now a lil over a year old.   This time around Blake was not on a ventilator and progressing wonderfully.  A few minor set backs and a collapsed lung could not even delay his progress. Surrounded by family and friends Blake was starting to be his little self and even cracked a smile a couple days after surgery. How wonderful to see such an amazing progression after all hes been through.    Elated everyone was planning his discharge and arrival home at an astonishing 5 days out from surgery. On October 7th Blake came down with a fever. His wound started to leak and they suspected an infection. Could this be happening? The decline was almost immediate, the smile dimmed and we were back to were we started.   The antibiotics failed to work and surgery was a determined to be today Oct. 9th 2018    As I'm writing this Blake is out of surgery and his chest was left open with a drain in it. As an Aunt it breaks my heart to see him suffer like this. Nodoby can know the things you see behind the scenes...the things no one talks about. Watching tubes be shoved in his nose, down his throat, needles and sutures everywhere on one little tiny body. Him being awake in pain or being sedated to the point of lifelessness. The tears that run down his face onto wires, tape, gauze and tubes. To watch my Sister and Chris in the background be torn down by this is something no one will understand unless you are there. It's a heartbreak a little more...everyday.    That is why I'm asking everyone to come together to help them. Watching my sister have to leave her sons side last night to go to work  with tears in her eyes the night before a second surgery within a week is heartbreaking. Watching Chris miss everyday to be at work to provide, while caring for 2 other children alone. It cant be done and shouldn't. Please support them in this time of need. Please help them ease the burden so they can be there for Blake and their little ones in this time of need.
