Heart Transplant & Sudden Relocation: Help Stefan and Ashley
Donation protected
Our friend Stefan was born with a congenital heart defect and at just 3 years old, he underwent a Fontane procedure to help his heart function properly. This surgery allowed him to grow and live a relatively normal life for many years.
In 2023, Stefan’s Fontane procedure began to fail resulting in heart failure. By May 2024, he was officially listed for a heart transplant in Halifax, NS. Since then, things have taken a more urgent turn. In the summer of 2025, Stefan suffered two major clotting incidents; a stroke and a pulmonary embolism, which has made his case more complex and high-risk.
Because of the severity of his condition, Stefan can no longer be treated in Halifax. He is now being transferred to Toronto, ON, where a more specialized transplant team is prepared to take on his case. This move brings new hope but also some challenges.
Stefan will be supported every step of the way by his loving partner, Ashley, who will be by his side throughout this journey, helping with his care and recovery. This transition will require them both to leave their home and community behind, facing the emotional and financial strain of relocation and long-term treatment.
We are raising money to help cover the significant costs associated with Stefan’s medical care and the extended stay in Toronto. Your support will help them both with travel, accommodations, daily living expenses, and the long recovery process ahead. This will allow Stefan and Ashley to focus fully on his health.
Stefan and Ashley are the type of friends anyone would be lucky to have, some of the most funny and thoughtful people out there. They need your support now more than ever. Every donation, whether it’s big or small, gives Stefan and his family one less thing to worry about during this critical time.
Thank you for supporting Stefan and Ashley.
