Jeff, age 49, was born with Congenital Heart Disease. At the age of 5, he had a very dangerous surgery to repair a coarctation (narrowing) of his aorta. In December of 2017 Jeff was diagnosed with Gullian Barre Syndrome resulting in temporary paralyzing his body from the neck down. Jeff was in the hospital with that for 2+ weeks and multiple weeks of PT and time off work. Since then, the narrowing has since returned, and he has also been diagnosed with another congenital defect known as a bicuspid aortic valve and that defective valve is severely leaking (Aortic Regurgitation/Aortic Insufficiency). The leak is causing his heart to enlarge, and surgery is the only option. On November 4, 2020, he will be going to a hospital in Dallas to undergo a procedure to place a stent in his narrowed aorta to repair the recurring coarctation. Then, on December 2, 2020, he will be having open heart surgery to repair/replace his leaking aortic valve. These procedures will require extensive recovery and will cause him to miss work during that time. Please keep him and his family in your thoughts and prayers.
