Dolly needs help! unfortunately I am a victim of an online scamming breeder and was sold a sick puppy. I had purchased sweet dolly a week before Christmas, and the first night I brought her home she was coughing really bad and I new something was not right.
First thing in the morning I had taken dolly to the vet to get looked at and the vet had informed me she has a really bad heart murmur on top of kennel cough and that I should take her to a specialty hospital so she can get an echo ultrasound done on her to see what the issues are with her heart. With the holidays approaching I could not afford to take dolly to a specialist, the vet sent me home with an antibiotic for her kennel cough and with in a couple of days the cough was gone and she started to act like a happy normal puppy!
I was so relieved to see her in such good spirits. She was playing, and running, and barking! you would think there is nothing wrong with her by how playful and happy she was. I felt there was hope for this little girl, Until now.. this past week I have noticed her energy levels have gone down, she’s been having diarrhea and I was thinking that was due to a change in her diet (royal canine puppy food) but when I noticed blood in her stool I new that wasn’t a good sign, so I took her in to see the vet again.
They immediately tested dolly for Parvo and it came out negative (thank god) we feel there is Giardia involved so we’re treating her for that. It’s been a couple days now with me treating I haven’t noticed an improvement in her energy and appetite Since giving her this medicine but her diarrhea has improved and almost gone away, I took her back to the vet today to get her checked because I want to make sure she’s staying hydrated enough and not completely starving her self (she’s only eating a little bit of wet food) and again they suggested I take her to get her echo ultrasound and X-ray done.
I decided to go ahead and take her to the specialty doctor and they noticed she has an enlarged heart and a PDA (patent ductus arteriosus) and needs surgery for her to live. Her heart is failing :( I’m torn because I love her so much, and my 6 year old daughter will be heartbroken if we loose her. Dolly deserves a happy life and she can have that if she gets this surgery.
I’ve come so far with her already and I’d hate to give up now! I know she still has a ton of fight in her left still. Please help her!
