Heart Surgery for Broly
Donation protected
Hi, today is Broly's first birthday and is now 1 years old, our family is beyond sad to have to reach out for support that is beyond our means in order to potentially give our families puppy a chance of a healthy and full life. Almost two weeks ago we went to get our little man neutered which is when a heart murmur was noticed upon his pre operation exam, upon further testing of x-ray and ultra sound imaging our pup was diagnosed with PDA (Patent ductus arteriosus) , a persistent opening between the two major blood vessels leading from the heart. The opening (ductus arteriosus) is a normal part of a baby's circulatory system in the womb that usually closes shortly after birth. If it remains open, it's called a patent ductus arteriosus. There is a corrective surgery and with out it
PDA can lead to congestive heart failure and a disease of the right side of the heart (called cor pulmonale) later in life. PDA also increases the risk of endocarditis, a life-threatening infection of the lining that covers the heart chambers, valves, and main arteries. Statistics show that this outcome is more then likely and is only a matter of time. We have received an rough estimate $900 before taxes for a cardio exam and an echocardiogram to see if he can even have the surgery and a rough estimate of $7000 before taxes. If there is a chance we can get close to that amount we would be beyond grateful to be able to give our daughters first puppy a shot at a full and healthy life. For anyone that decides to partake in a donation, If enough money is not raised, all donors will be full 100% reimbursed, If we can get close enough to our goal then surgery will take place. We are currently also searching for a surgeon that is more cost efficient but so far an animal cardiac surgeon is not the easiest to find, we are located in Ottawa Ontario but are willing to drive or travel a reasonable distance in order to accommodate, Toronto, New York, Montreal. I think anything within 8 hours would be reasonable distance to travel so if anyone has any ideas or recommendations please let us know. If anyone decides to donate, please know that you are not just potentially saving our newest families members life, you are also saving many hearts from breaking. Thank you for taking the time to read this. Blessings to everyone and their families.
