Heart Surgery for Philip
Donation protected
Hi, my name is Nadine, I am raising funds for dear friends of mine! They moved from South Africa to Canada just over a year ago!
This is Phillip’s story as told by his mom:
“Philip was born on April 12, 2019, weighing just 2.1kg and beginning his life in the NICU. His first year was filled with multiple hospitalizations as doctors discovered he had a ventricular septal defect—a hole in his heart. In September 2023, Philip underwent his first heart surgery, which sadly did not succeed and resulted in damage to his heart valves. Just three months later, in December 2023, he bravely underwent open heart surgery. While we held on to hope that his heart would begin to heal, follow-up scans revealed the opposite—his aortic valve leak had rapidly progressed from moderate to severe, nearing critical. On April 1, 2025, we received the news that another open heart surgery was necessary, and by April 10, it was confirmed for April 17. Because this complex procedure cannot be done in our home province, we will be traveling to Edmonton, Alberta, where he will face a lengthy hospital stay followed by six weeks of recovery at home. Through it all, Philip has shown the strength and courage of a true warrior, facing each challenge with incredible resilience. He is surrounded by the unwavering love of his parents and younger brother, and we continue to trust in God’s faithfulness and healing power. We know that He goes before us, and we hold fast to the promise that Philip is fearfully and wonderfully made, carried in the hands of God every step of the way.”
Please help us to raise funds for them for their stay in Edmonton and afterwards as his mom has to take unpaid leave for the entire time.
We thank you in advance for opening your hearts to this wonderful family!
