After 3 heart-attacks, 7 stints, a defibrillator and now a heart pump- Mike is hanging in there but his road to recovery is long.  He will be in the ICU for the next couple of weeks as his body adjusts to its newest helper.  Once transferred from the ICU, he faces another couple of weeks in the hospital and then a couple of weeks more in outpatient care.  To add to the challenges, he is at a Santa Clara hospital that specializes in the treatment he needs, adding an additional burden to his wife, Michelle, and their family who reside in Vacaville.  

Mike is not able to work and Michelle has used up all of her paid time off to support him.  Hospital bills, hotel stays and daily living don’t let up.
