Heart of Gears

Hey everyone! I'm Adam Ponis, a film student from Vancouver B.C. currently at InFocus Film school. I'm fundraising for our short grad film "Heart of Gears". Our crew contains 9 passionate student filmmakers and two actors!

Synopsis:
Heart of Gears follows a beat-up robot that washes ashore among its broken robotic friends. Unable to reactivate them, the Robot makes its way down the beach before spotting Wyatt, sulking over the loss of his father on a dock. The Robot tries to introduce itself but ends up startling him. Wyatt rejects the Robot's attempts at friendship but reluctantly accepts its company. As they journey, the robot's failing power leads to a moment of connection when it notices a red flower, briefly reigniting Wyatt's empathy.
Now at Wyatt's apartment, the two bond over their losses before the robot's battery finally drains. Despite Wyatt's attempt to save it, he eventually gives up. However, hope remains as the Robot reactivates once again.

Why we want to tell this story:
Opening up emotionally can be very difficult, for some nearly impossible. Personally, I used to bottle everything up because I felt like if I let others in I would just be burdening them with my feelings. Wyatt's journey is similar to mine and I know it's a feeling many others can relate to, which is why I think it's important to tell this story. Every Wyatt needs a Robot, someone that will show them it's okay to be open with their emotions. But not everyone has one. We want to tell this story so those who are going through a similar experience can be seen and learn that it's okay to let people in.

The Robot:
The Robot is filled with a sense of childlike wonder and curiosity. We want the suit to replicate that. The suit will be made to look like a more detailed cardboard robot Halloween costume. We will achieve this look through mixing arts and craft supplies such as cardboard, with more realistic robot elements such as LED Lights for the eyes, battery etc.

If you choose to donate you will be helping us throughout the whole film. The funds will go to building the Robot costume, locations, transportation, gear and more. Additionally, anyone who decide to donate, your name will be featured in the credits under a "special thanks"! (if you do not want your name in the credits feel free to let us know!)

Thank you for taking the time to read our story. On behalf of the entire "Heart of Gears" cast and crew, we sincerely thank you all.
