Support For Heart Attack Recovery

Support Travis on His Journey to Heal.

On what I thought would be just another normal day at work, it turned out to be the biggest wake-up call I could ever experience. A heart attack. On the last day of this month, my life has forever changed. While doing a job that I take pride in and love, my chest tightened, and a sharp pain zipped through my chest. In that tragic moment, all I could do was think about my wife and children. I knew that something was severely wrong. I called 911 and was immediately taken to the ER and rushed to the “Cath Lab.” I was diagnosed with myocardial infarction (MI) (a heart attack). The doctor said that the blood flow to my heart muscle was blocked, and my heart wasn’t getting enough oxygen, causing major damage to my heart tissue.

After undergoing surgery to open the blockage, I was advised that my heart had suffered substantial damage and that recovery would be long-lasting. An angioplasty was immediately performed, which was critical in restoring blood flow to my heart. I was notified that my provider had placed a stent at the site of the blockage just in time before anything fatal could occur.

To my wife, Natasha, and children, Jihad & J’Kai, I hope that I am a devoted husband and father who always puts family first and loves hard.

To the countless people that I encounter daily, I hope that I am an example of positive energy, respectfulness, gratitude, and motivation.

To anyone that may know me, I hope that I am seen as more than a custodian, an EVS Worker, a husband, father, and friend. I hope that I am seen as an example of kindness, strength, and dedication.

But now, my family and I need help.

This life-altering incident will create a financial burden that no family can mentally or financially prepare for. As I begin my recovery journey, there are great challenges ahead of us. Newfound medical expenses, the cost of my rehabilitation, the time I will be away from work, and our daily living expenses will place a tremendous strain on my family’s lives.
