Heart and Liver Transplant for Alex Angert
Donation protected
If you know Alex, you know he is jovial, intelligent and fiercely caring & loyal to family and friends. But what many people don't know is that since his early teenage years, Alex has been battling a rare genetic heart disease called ARVC. This disease brings about life-threatening heart rhythms, dilation of the right side of the heart, and heart failure. It is a major cause of sudden death. A series of miraculous surgeries saved Alex's life but his heart continued to deteriorate and to damage his liver in the process. Deeming it too risky to wait any longer, his doctors listed Alex for a dual heart and liver transplant at Vanderbilt University Medical Center.
Alex has had to move to Nashville to wait for the transplant, while Steph stays in DC with their two young sons. Immensely grateful for this second chance, Alex nevertheless faces a very complex surgery and a long and difficult recovery. Throughout this ordeal, he and Steph are dealing with substantial medical and travel expenses, including direct medical costs, an apartment rental in Nashville, child care, and frequent airline flights for Alex's caretakers.
As their close friends, we wanted to do what we could to lift up this special family in their time of crisis. Please join us in supporting them however you find meaningful, and please share with anyone else you think is looking for a way to contribute. Though they would never ask for help themselves, we know Alex and Steph are deeply grateful for your love and support.
