Rustin's current hearing aid is no longer working and he needs to upgrade his device to the newest processor, the Nucleus 7. This is an unexpected medical expense that has hit him hard. The device alone cost is around $6,500. The cost of monthly insurance premiums has made it impossible for him to maintain an effective policy that would benefit his hearing. For those of you unaware, Rustin can not hear at all without the device.
The hearing device that Rustin has been using for the last 15 years has completely changed his life seeing as communication is the biggest part of his job. Without the device he is unable to communicate in a professional and ethical manner.
Rustin is unable to get a loan to cover the cost of the device at this time. After losing his home to Hurricane Harvey his credit took a major hit and the timing of needing his hearing device replaced came at a bad time as he just put a down payment on a house and is now under contract. He is currently in the processes of moving and has to be out of his current rental home by the end of October.
Anyone that knows Rustin knows that he is always the first person to lend a hand to anyone who needs it. He has been a hero in our community time after time during natural disasters often risking his own life to help others. When he isn't working his full time job he volunteers as the head operator of Engine 12 for the Hardin County Fire Department, a job that he takes much pride in but is unable to perform if he can't hear the dispatch calls. Rustin has literally given to our community in so many ways and I can't think of a better way to thank him than by helping with this cause.
If you can help in any way it would be much appreciated and if you can't donate that's okay but please say a prayer for him as he pushes through this stressful time in his life.
