Hearing Aids for a Hardworking Mamma
Donation protected
Hello, my name is Kayleigh, and I am raising funds to afford hearing aids for myself.
I am a mother of the most beautiful, spunky baby boy who is just beginning to find his voice.
My profession, and passion, is a mental health therapist in a rural community.
For these reasons, I am raising funds for a hearing aid.
As someone who has struggled with my ear health my whole life, I have experienced chronic ear infections, three sets of tubes, and permanent scaring in my right ear due to the last set of tubes leading to mild chronic hearing loss. I thought I would have to be okay with not being able to hear as well as most people around me. I adapted. I learned how to lip-read. I found new and fun ways to say, "what?" so it wasn't so awkward when I made someone repeat themselves three or four times.
However, after having my son, I realized that though I was getting by, I was missing out. I was missing out on all the new noises he was learning to make. I was missing out on hearing the full range of his voice. I was missing out on fully experiencing my son growing up and into himself. That is a missed opportunity that I do not want to continue to occupy because I can "just get by."
I am working my "big girl job." The job that I longed to have, the job that I thought I could only dream of having, the job that lights a fire in my belly. I am a mental health therapist. In my position, I must be able to hear those in need. I am privileged to sit alongside people when they are at their lowest. I am flattered when that person allows me to offer my guidance. I am honored to be a part of that person's healing journey. I want to provide the best of my abilities to that person, and it's vital that I truly hear them.
These funds will be used to cover the cost of one hearing aid for my right ear. A single hearing aid cost can span from 2,000 to 7,000 dollars. This cost is outside our budget, which is why any donations are so appreciated. I am only planning on buying one hearing aid right now due to the high cost.
Please help me be the best mother I can be to my son. Please help me be the best therapist I can be to my clients. Please help me hear as the good Lord intended me to, with the full extent of both ears!
