Our son Remy was born with an abnormality of his right ear. The medical terms are Microtia (which means small ear) and Artesia (which is the absence of an ear canal). We have been to many doctors’ appointments already to determine the severity of his condition and to find out the best ways to help him overcome the struggles that he will undoubtedly have as a result. We have found out that the nerve that goes from where his ear should be to his brain is working and that he could benefit from a special hearing aid called a B.A.H.A. (Bone Anchored Hearing Aid). The hearing aid will sit just behind where his ear would be located on his skull. Our H.M.O. will cover doctor visits; however it does not cover the B.A.H.A. device itself. Without the device he may have difficulty with developing language which can keep him behind in school. It is important to get him the device as soon as possible because the foundation of language is developed in the first year. We have adjusted our budget to find ways to pay for his hearing aid, but it would take a long time to reach our goal, and that will further put Remy behind. We are asking for your help so that our son Remy can have the gift of hearing and stay ahead with his learning. We know that most people like us cannot afford to make large donations. Something more than $20 can be a lot. That is why we are asking you donate as much as you are comfortable with. We appreciate any and all donations large or small. From our family and on behalf of Remy, thank you!
