Hearing Aid for Carli

Donation protected
"Where do I begin?" A line I would never have thought to be using on a ‘Go-Fund-Me’  page. I guess this is the story of a young lady with everything going for her but sound.

This is a difficult request for me. I'm writing to ask for your help in getting this hearing aid so I can hear my child, my family and friends, and my boss/co-workers. Not being able to participate fully in conversations, whether it's at work or with my child is really challenging. I feel lost and alone; frightened. Without sound, the world closes in. I was born 85% deaf in my right ear and 65% partially deaf in my left. I took speech classes where I was forced to learn to speak intelligibly, and to lip read exceptionally well but I was also surrounded by many deaf people all my life who has fluently taught me sign language as well as my amazing teachers through the years for who I’m really thankful for, however It wasn't an easy life for me especially being in school. I didn't want to be labeled as "different". I didn't want to sit in the front of the class, I didn't want to do the things that a disabled person has to do. I wanted to fit in like everyone else. I spent my entire school years in denial of my deafness, but eventually, I learned to accept who I am. No longer ashamed of my deafness, I am proud of it. I am proud of who I am, proud of what I've overcome, and proud of my culture. I am deaf and proud. But the hearing aid is still my lifeline-that which connects me to my child, my job, my family, and friends.

So, as of right now, I currently don’t have a hearing aid so I need your help and support!! Donations of any amount or/and sharing this page will be greatly appreciated!! I've never asked anyone for anything before, but I was assured that it's okay to reach out and ask for support when you really need it.

I will be purchasing this hearing aid at Columbus Westech Hearing and Audiologist and these prices include batteries, extended warranty, and programming.
