HELLO FANS, FRIENDS and FOES!
Many of you know my dear old dad, Spencer Kirkpatrick... the MAN, the MYTH, the LEGEND ;-)
Many of you may NOT know that despite his incredible musical talent and ability, he has struggled with hearing loss MOST of his life, dating back to his early teenage years.
For those who have no idea WHO my Father is at all... you're missing out. My Father was a single child born and raised in Atlanta by a modest family. He spent his early youth teaching himself how to strum a guitar like a GOD and entertaining the masses every chance he got.
My dad spent time with friends in the Atlanta Vibrations, who had won a "Battle of the Bands" contest, which gave them the opening slot on The Beatles' only Atlanta appearance in 1965, followed by several short lived bands in between, all eventually leading to the formation of HYDRA, which has been commonly referred to as the one of the first "Heavy Southern Rock" bands.
My Dad has had many many music ventures, all contributing to a life full of explorations, adventure and a never ending collection of tell-all stories full of amusement and embarrassment.
I think most of us can agree that my Father has spent a lifetime dedicating himself to entertaining the ears of others, and at this point in his life, I'm asking you to help revive his. My Father has worn hearing aids his entire life. Currently, I think he is wearing old skeletons of hearing aids dating back to 1800 B.C. -- JOKING (Sorta... BUT they are REALLY old and pathetic)
HE NEEDS A BRAND NEW SET. He has investigated so many options, been evaluated by several audiologists, been fitted for brand new fully-functioning miracle hearing aids........ but was unable to purchase them due to financial hardship.
These devices are so much more than a desire. They are a vital need. They affect his ability to listen, his own confidence in his ability to play music and most importantly they affect his QUALITY OF LIFE.
If you know my Father, you know that he is probably going to disown me for making his private situation so public and sharing this struggle with each and everyone of you. I don't care. This is worth it. I hope that I can reach enough of you that have been touched by my Father in some way, whether it be through his magnanimous personality, his generous nature, his loving demeanor or his INCREDIBLE ability to make the very sounds we have all enjoyed at some time or another during his 67 glorious years on this Earth.
If you made it this far, thank you. If there has one thing I have learned, its that TIME IS VALUABLE. I want every second my dad has left to be enjoyed to its fullest extent OUT LOUD.
