Healthy owls, healthy homes; Let's get nest boxes!
Donation protected
The Turtle Rock Meadows HOA Board is working together with residents to install five barn owl nest boxes!
- Many Turtle Rock Meadows residents have had owls nest in their chimneys and even get into their homes. The debris they leave in chimneys is a fire hazard and a health hazard, and the owls are loud and a nuisance. Boxes are more desirable for nesting and will hopefully entice them away from our chimneys!
- We want to promote healthy owl populations for natural rodent management and a healthy ecosystem! A barn owl family can eat 3000 rodents in a year. More owls mean fewer rats, traps, and poison in our neighborhood.
Watch our owl babies! We’ll set up a live-streamed web cam so we can watch our owl chicks grow up together.
We need your help! We are working to raise $3000 by November 1, 2024. This will pay for five durable, heat resistant plastic composite owl nest boxes, mounting poles, installation, and a WiFi-enabled nest camera. With this deadline, we’ll have time to order and install the next boxes before the owls start nesting again in January.
