Health Shouldn't be a Luxury. Help my Mom Fight Cancer

As some of you may know, my amazing, beautiful, brilliant, role model mother has been battling cancer for over 2 years. Through these years, she has fought through two life-threatening surgeries and multiple rounds of chemotherapy and radiation with grace and humility, all while continuing to be the rock in our family. She inspires me every day, she represents everything I hope to become, and above all else, she does not deserve what she has had to endure.

The ongoing and intensive treatments for retroperitoneal soft-tissue Sarcoma are never easy, and their side effects are countless. As the cancer has spread from the aorta to the spine, hips, and now lungs, we are looking into all options.

Recently, she has been diagnosed with an infection due to a compromised immune system that has made daily life a constant struggle. Luckily, this can be treated by a new prescription antibiotic in just 10 days. However, since this antibiotic is new on the American pharmaceutical market and has no "generic" options, she can only obtain it for the criminal price of $7700. Beyond this, we are trying to admit her to various medical trials around the US that may offer solutions that we don't have at home.

I am asking for donations of any amount that may help me reach the goal of covering at least the cost of this medication, and maybe even some costs associated with new medical trials. No one should have their quality of life reduced to a price tag, and no one should have to choose between money and medicine. It is impossibly difficult to stand by and watch someone you love in pain. I hope, more than anything, that with the help of all of you, I (we) can provide her some relief.
