Health Insurance needed for Surgery and Recovery

Donation protected
TLDR; I lost my job in January and my health insurance severance is over at the end of May. I've been in the process for over 6 months to have gastric sleeve surgery to better my health. The surgery date is June 8th. I have to pay for my insurance premium to continue my health care coverage after the severance ends in May. The premium is $716.28 per month. Continue reading if you want the full story. The goal amount is to cover just about 6 months' worth of insurance premiums through COBRA so that I can attend follow-up appointments and just in case something goes wrong.
_____
I was promoted to a full-time employee with my previous employer and for the first time in my life had health care that I could actually use. I started to see doctors for ongoing issues, including morbid obesity (among other things- willing to divulge if anyone needs more information). After 32 years of living and hardly ever seeing a doctor during that time, I could finally get to work on myself and get to feeling better without the burden of financial cost.

I asked about Bariatric/Gastric Sleeve surgery and was immediately placed as a good fit. Insurance requirements were quite hefty- lots of pre-operation requirements such as an endoscopy, EKG, psychiatrist visit, multiple ultrasounds, and finally 6 full months of visiting a dietician, of which missing any would require completely starting over.

After the 3rd month of completing pre-reqs, I was let go from my job. I was panicky, beyond upset, and to this day relive the moment constantly. I've never been let go from a job before. I was fortunate to have at least received a severance package that included an additional 3 months of health insurance coverage. And thanks to the COBRA (Consolidated Omnibus Budget Reconciliation Act aka Continuation of Healthcare Coverage) program, I was able to elect to continue my healthcare plan past the severance, as long as I was willing to commit to the premium. My plan is the best out there, as I pay literally nothing out of pocket for anything- including this surgery.

However, my 3 months severance is nearly up (ends May 31st). If I wish to continue being covered, I have to pay a premium of $716.28 a month. I still have not found a job, though I am consistently searching/applying. I have had some recruiter conversations and one interview, but nothing has panned out, and have more often than not been completely turned away before any conversations at all. I've also begun the process of restarting school to finish my degree, but like my health, is dependent on financial assistance. And, that doesn't help with finances or healthcare in the meantime. I am collecting unemployment currently, but it barely covers enough for rent and bills. And my allotted amount of unemployment is running out fast.

I will require at least 3 months of post-op appointments, ideally 6 months. The total goal is to cover 6 months of my premium to allow me healing time and time to find a job that has health insurance so I can continue seeing my surgeon.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.
