Health Fair for Jamaica’s Rural Communities

Donation protected
UFJ Ministries proposes a comprehensive three-day health fair at Roses Valley Primary and Infant School to address critical health disparities in Jamaica's low-income rural communities. Jamaica faces a public health crisis where 70% of all deaths result from non-communicable diseases (NCDs) including coronary artery disease, breast cancer, stroke, diabetes, hypertension, HIV/AIDS, lung disease, and influenza/pneumonia.

The health fair will provide free preventive health screenings, diagnostic services, health education, and referrals to specialized care. Jamaica's public health system is severely stressed, with patients waiting months for doctor appointments and preventive care being limited to nonexistent in low-income communities.

The project is expected to screen 500-600 participants across three days, with the identification of 150-200 individuals with previously undiagnosed hypertension, diabetes, or other serious NCDs. The comprehensive initiative combines screening, education, vaccination, and systematic follow-up.
