Meet the wonderful students from Mekanissa School for the Deaf in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. Mekanissa School provides an education to deaf children and one hearing sibling so that the child will have at least one family member who they can  communicate with through sign language.

There are roughly 300 students that attend Makanissa and each student is required to wear a uniform. For the last six years, we have been fortunate to work with the children at Makanissa School and with each trip we have seen the same children wearing uniforms that are becoming increasingly worn with each passing year (see photos). According to the World Bank, the average income for a person in Ethiopia is less than $40 a month which makes a $10 uniform a luxury, especially for a family with two children in school.

For just $10 you can provide one student with an entire uniform. Just think, for the cost of 1 movie ticket, 2 trips to Starbucks, 1 cheap bottle of wine or 1 fast food meal, you can provide a student with pants, a shirt and a sweater.

Please help us reach our foal to raise $3000 to provide the whole school with new uniforms! Any and everything helps and 100% of the proceeds will be going to the school. Anything we raise over $3000 will help to provide new shoes, more hearing aids for the children in addition to the 300 uniforms. We are working with Healing the Children which is a 501-c and can provide a receipt for a tax deduction as well.
