HealingHearts - Nicole’s Cardiac Journey

Our names are Tony and Jordan Christopherson. Tony is the brother and Jordan is the sister-in law of Nicole Bloomberg (Christopherson).

As many of you may know, Nicole’s 43 years on this earth have been everything but easy. Born with several cardiac and physical defects, Nicole has undergone more extensive surgeries and procedures to date than most of us will undergo in our entire lives. Several years ago, Nicole was informed that she is in stage four congestive heart failure and her overall health conditions have continued to decline since.

On February 23rd, Nicole was admitted to the emergency room after experiencing severe swelling, difficulty breathing and cardiac complications. Her conditions cause her heart to not pump blood effectively, leading to a buildup of fluid in the lungs and other parts of the body. Over the past three weeks, Nicole has undergone several tests, procedures and dialysis. Although she is currently in stable condition at the University of Minnesota, her heart remains dependent on the use of dobutamine to effectively pump blood and oxygen throughout her body.

Nicole's health continues to be closely monitored by medical professionals as they work to manage her symptoms and provide appropriate treatments. Although Nicole remains in critical care, she is receiving the best possible care and support from the University of Minnesota (Cardiac Unit). Optimistic and open-minded, Nicole harbors hope for the prospect of a heart transplant or the use of a left ventricular assist device (LVAD).

Nicole has spent decades working full time to provide for her family but was recently forced to unexpectedly leave her job caring for her two beloved nephews (our sons), Kaden and Karter.

Undeterred by life's challenges, Nicole's unwavering spirit fuels her determination to maintain independence and to continue being there for her family, no matter what it takes. However, her path to recovery is undeniably challenging, both physically and financially. Medical expenses are continuing to compile, and future procedures, medications and the cost of a full-time caregiver are simply too much for their one-income family. Your generosity will not only provide financial relief but will also show Nicole just how strong her circle is. She will need all of us to continue this fight.
