Healing Baby Hector's Heart

Donation protected
On March 30th, 2017 my sister, Maribel Tapia, was blessed with a beautiful set of TWINS: Baby Hector and Baby Sophia Barragan. Baby Hector weighed only 4 lbs 4 oz and Baby Sofia weighed 4 lbs 5 oz.

Baby Hector was diagnosed with a rare heart condition called Tetralogy of Fallot (TOF) with Pulmonary Atresia . You may have heard of this condition since Jimmy Kimmel just spoke about his son having the same condition. This heart condition means that Baby Hector was born with a hole between the lower chambers of his heart and has an obstruction from his heart to his lungs. His aorta lies over the hole in the lower chambers and the muscle surrounding the lower right chamber becomes overly thick.
Pulmonary Atresia means that the pulmonary valve is closed and not developed so blood cannot flow through the pulmonary arteries to the lungs. Instead, Baby Hector is dependent on a patent ductus arteriosus (PDA) or multiple systemic collateral vessels called multiple aortopulmonary collateral arteries (MAPCAs)  to deliver blood to the lungs for oxygenation.

Baby Hector will need to have open heart surgery as soon as possible. Aside from his heart condition, Baby Hector is currently also fighting neonatal meningitis.
He is at a children's hospital in Palo Alto, California awaiting doctor's approval for surgery.
As you know, the medical costs are substantial. I have set up this gofundme page for anyone who is interested in helping or donating with the accumulating medical expenses. GoFundMe takes 8% of each donation given. If you wish to make a direct donation instead, feel free to  DM me on how to do so.
Either way you chose to help, any and ALL donations will be greatly appreciated <3

More about Mom and the babies:
She dreamed of becoming a mother but having PCOS meant getting pregnant would be very difficult, if not impossible. With the help of doctors and medical science, she finally became pregnant with twins after her SECOND attempt through IVF .
Her little miracle babies <3  <3

A few months into the pregnancy, doctors noticed a problem with little Hector's heart and referred him to a cardiologist in Spokane, WA.
At 26 weeks pregnant, doctors placed Maribel on bed rest until the birth of the babies.
At 31 weeks pregnant, her water broke and she was airlifted to the Spokane hospital from Kennewick, WA. She began having contractions, but it was too soon for the twins to be born. Doctors held off the birth for 7 days but at 32 weeks pregnant they had to have an emergency C-Section.
Both babies spent their first few weeks of life in the NICU. Baby Sophia was released after 5 1/2 weeks but Baby Hector had to be taken to Palo Alto, California for surgery. As of May 18th, doctors have not yet cleared Baby Hector for surgery until they can safely take the ventilator tube out and until he completes 3 weeks of antibiotics to fight off the meningitis.
Baby Hector is strong! He is a fighter! Once doctors feel it is safe to do so, they will perform the surgery, followed by at least 4 weeks of recovery time.

Maribel lives in  Washington but will have to stay in California for at least another 2 MONTHS.  As if having twins wasn't financially stressful enough, having one baby with a congenital heart defect +
growing  medical bills + travel expenses + not being able to work since she was placed on bed rest at  26 weeks pregnant in mid-March, I ask all my friends and family to help alleviate some of the financial stress that my sister is facing.
