Help Us Fight for Ana – A Loving Mother, Daughter, Sister, Artist, and Warrior
Our family is asking for your help as we continue to face the most difficult battle of our lives.
My sister, Ana, is the heart of our small family — a radiant beam of light on the cloudiest day, a strong and fierce single mother, a gifted artist, and the kind of person who gives her whole heart to everything and everyone she encounters. Being like a second mother to me, she has taught me what it truly means to feel deeply, to love unconditionally, and to live passionately and unapologetically.
In March 2022, Ana was diagnosed with Invasive Ductal Carcinoma HER2-Positive breast cancer. She was given a devastating prognosis: a three to six months life-expectancy, unless she underwent immediate surgery, chemotherapy, and radiation.
As a family, we gathered what we could, and thanks to donations from all of you, our friends and family, my sister was able to pursue a different path. She turned to holistic medicine, transforming her life through nutrition, lifestyle, and natural treatment. Against all odds, she was able to see a decrease in tumor size within the first year.
Unfortunately, over the last 2 years, the consistency of the alternative treatments has severely slowed down due to the costly treatments (that are not covered by insurance), but even so, she has been living fully and independently for over three years, defying every expectation.
A few months ago, things took a turn. She began experiencing a consistent cough and difficulty breathing, and on July 4th, after weeks of requesting the necessary scans and treatments through her insurance, Ana was rushed to the hospital, gasping for air.
Doctors discovered a pleural effusion and pericardial effusion: her lungs and heart were surrounded by excess fluid. Constricted by the pressure of more than 2 pounds of fluid drained out of her, her right lung was functioning at just 25% capacity. She spent a week in the hospital, undergoing emergency procedures and extensive testing.
The news we received was devastating: The cancer has metastasized — spreading to her liver, pelvis, spine, lymph nodes, and potentially her brain. The updated prognosis is Stage IV Terminal Cancer, and she has once again been told she has three to six months to live.
Ana now has a drainage port in her chest, is on oxygen 24/7, and requires constant care. We are working with both an oncologist and alternative therapies in hopes of stabilizing her condition and easing her pain — because we refuse to give up.
We are asking for your help so we can continue fighting for Ana’s life and dignity.
Your donation will go toward:
• Medical bills from her recent hospitalization
• Palliative/Hospice Care
• Daily medications and oxygen
• Alternative treatments and supportive therapies (this alone costs upwards of $1,200/week)
• Living expenses for Ana and her son
• Transportation and additional equipment
• Caregiving costs
This is urgent. Every day matters. Without consistent care and access to treatments, things could worsen quickly.
But if you know Ana, you know that she’s a fighter. She’s made it this far by sheer will, love, and the power of her spirit. We just want to give her time, comfort, and hope — and we can’t do it alone.
Thank you for reading, for caring, and for standing beside our family. Even if you can’t donate, sharing this with others could make all the difference.
We thank you from the bottom of our hearts.
