Help Me Attend Healing Politics Campaign School: A Journey from Bedside to Ballot

My name is Brittany Peacock-Wilson, and I’m a registered nurse, doula, and public health advocate deeply committed to improving the health and wellbeing of Black families and marginalized communities. I’ve been accepted to attend the Healing Politics Campaign School for Nurses and Midwives, taking place July 24–27, 2025, in Durham, North Carolina — and I need your help to get there.

Healing Politics is a nonpartisan, nurse-led organization with a bold mission: to inspire, motivate, and train nurses and midwives to run for elected office and build a culture of civic engagement in healthcare. Their Campaign School is an intensive, transformative experience designed to equip nurse leaders with the skills, knowledge, and confidence to run for office, lead policy change, and amplify the voices of those most often left out of the conversation.

As a Black nurse and doula, my work has always centered equity, access, and advocacy — whether I’m at the bedside, supporting birthing families, or engaging in public health initiatives. I’ve participated in state and national advocacy days, serve on diversity and maternal health committees, and have lobbied for legislation that supports reproductive justice, equitable care, and Black maternal health. Attending the Healing Politics Campaign School is the next step in my journey from bedside to ballot — a leap toward representing my community in the places where decisions are made.

To attend, I am asked not only to show up fully, but to help fundraise as a demonstration of public support and accountability. That’s why I’m asking for your help to raise $5,000 to cover tuition, travel, lodging, meals, and associated costs for the four-day training.
