My name is Jamila Batts Capitman. I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor and Expressive Arts Therapist in MA. I am seeking funding for the pilot of a new Expressive Arts Therapy program for adults in Boston: Creative Restoration.

Creative Restoration is a series of free group arts therapy sessions for adults in Boston who are interested in using the arts to develop better emotional, cognitive, and behavioral health. Each session will include a healthy meal and other resources for participants. The program will culminate in a showing of the art that participants produce.

Creative Restoration seeks to meet the social and emotional needs of adults in Boston who are facing major health disparities while celebrating their resilience.

The sessions will be facilitated collaboratively between local teaching artists and therapists to provide trauma-informed, culturally responsive care.
