Hello friends.
I was lucky enough to meet Melissa Mays and her family recently in preparation to play her in a Lifetime movie about the Flint water crisis. She and her family are fighting still, for a community they love, fueled by "rage and Red Bull". They, like thousands more in Flint, are coping with the effects of lead and copper deposits in their bodies, just a couple of the toxins attacking their systems daily. Seizures, osteoarthritis, bone spurs, cognition impairment, headaches--the list is ugly and upsetting.
And no, the water is still not safe.
There is so much to be done. For so many people. And Flint is not the only place where people are being poisoned.
But I wanted to do something for this warrior--she has been marching in the front line for three years, and she's not slowing down now. We need her voice. She fights for all of us, to keep this from happening everywhere else. Let's fight for her.
Chelation is the preferred medical treatment for metal poisoning, but it's not covered by Melissa's insurance. The average price is $100 per session, for about 60 sessions, for an average total of $6000. There are 5 members in the Mays family suffering from these toxins.
So let's give them all this gift. Let's do this for them, and they can keep doing for others. Let's start here and see how far we can go next.
(To be clear, in case there is any concern, neither Melissa nor any member of the Mays family asked me to do this! I chose to do this for them independently. And funds will go to her doctor of choice directly.)
