Support Ryan’s Surgical Recovery

Donation protected
Hello,
My name is Andrea. I am Ryan Pitre’s aunt. Ryan is on medical leave from the Restaurant Industry. As some of you may know, Ryan was injured from a gunshot on Friday night, October 14. As a family, we are grateful for those that immediately called EMS. Ryan was taken to UMC and underwent major abdominal surgery to explore the bullet’s track and stop any bleeding. Unfortunately, due to having major abdominal surgery and the location of the residual bullet fragment, Ryan is unable to work. He has a large abdominal incision with staples. He cannot lift or do any vigorous activity. He is using a walker for mobility at this point, and needs long periods of rest.

As you may know most employees do not have benefits in the service industry. This causes great financial uncertainty, and this is the case for Ryan. Kitchen Work consists of quick vigorous movements with lots of lifting, long hours and standing for long periods of time. Ryan is unable to perform this type of work currently. We are hopeful that he will return to the trade he is so passionate about when his Doctors release him back to work, but it will take at minimum 6-8 weeks.

We are hoping that the New Orleans Community and beyond will understand the need for our family to ask for help, and can give just a little, whatever one can afford. Donations will be used for Ryan’s rent, food, clothing, medicine and transportation while Ryan is unable to work during his recovery.

As a family, we are guiding and supporting Ryan through this critical period allowing him to rest and deal with his Trauma. He has started follow-up care with his Doctors and will begin Physical Therapy next week. Ryan is positive despite his physical pain and uncertainty about future employment. He is seeing a Trauma Specialist, and this helps tremendously.

Ryan would like to express that he is healing physically and spiritually, and is grateful for any support.

Ryan is staying with family, so he is safe and receiving lots of love and nutrition to help him heal.

Thank you for your understanding and prayers. We will send updates as there are changes, and again we appreciate the community of New Orleans, and beyond.
