Update 5/27

Cody has finally been released from Shirley Ryan in Chicago and is on his way to Iowa city. He will continue out patient rehab there and will be living up there till we can find a suitable home for him. He will be staying at the Home 2 suites by Hilton. Once we have a room number and more information we will let everyone know. Shout out to Lori Kuhn-Caudill and John James for going up to Chicago these past couple weeks when we thought he was initially going to be moved and didn’t get to leave. Lauren is in her third trimester and very limited on my tasks now. All of the help has been greatly appreciated.

Update 5/18
Cody was in a horrible accident two months ago that has left him paralyzed from the waist down. Even though life has thrown him a huge curve ball he has been making great progress. He will be transferred from Shirley Ryan Ability Lab in Chicago on Wednesday May 21st to out patient therapy in Iowa City. He will continue therapy with On with life out patient therapy. He will be staying at Home 2 suites by Hilton. We will have a room number and more information once he is settled. Cody will continue to live in Iowa City till we can find a house, or I (Lauren) can buy one. Which we didn’t get the news we wanted we are continuing to push forward and pray we can afford / find something before the baby is born beginning of August.

Update 3/28
Cody had a “BIG DAY”Yesterday. He got to venture outside for his therapy session. Just to breathe that fresh air was a game changer! He had a good day and he was able to show his mom and dad around the new facility. He’s excited to see the guests that are coming up today too. Every day he is getting stronger and stronger.

As of March 23rd Cody was transferred to the Shirley Ryan Rehab Facility in Chicago where he will work to complete a minimum of 4-6 of inpatient rehabilitation.

Update 3/21

Today was a good day. Lauren got there early this am and got his belongings all organized just in case they were gonna come ship him off to rehab. He got to sit up today on the side of his bed during therapy and worked on hand and eye coordination. They have been monitoring a blood clot in his chest and giving him shots for it. They will put him on a drip tonight and recheck his labs in the morning. He will be moved into another room as we get closer to being discharged. The official word has come in. He will be discharged Sunday around 9:30 to Shirley Ryan rehab facility. ( we didnt receive the best news yesterday but that Is not gonna stop him from fighting He is strong an getting stronger everyday. )

Update! As of 3/16 here is what we know.
Due to the accident Cody has sustained severe spinal cord damage. He underwent back surgery to repair as much of the vertebrae as they could. They have moved him out of the ICU into the Step Down Care Unit. They are currently waiting for the removal of his lumbar drain. Once his lumbar drain is removed they will transfer him to an inpatient rehab unit.
While Cody has been so strong, he still has a very long road ahead. Even if you’re unable to help donate, a share or prayers/ vibes are greatly appreciated!
We want to thank everyone who has called, donated, prayed, and supported in one way or another!

Cody was sadly in a horrific accident Tuesday. He has sustained a lot of injuries and while we don’t know much right now, we do know he has made it through surgery and still in the icu. Cody has a very long road ahead of him and his family. Cody and Lauren have a little boy on the way. With these donations it will allow both of them to focus on his healing and go towards medical and home expenses.
