Healing Support for Suzanne

At the humble request of Suzanne and Rick, they ask that this not be shared on Facebook or Twitter. If you choose to share with others, please email only. Thank you for honoring their wishes.

Anyone who has ever crossed paths in life with Suzanne knows she is beyond amazing. Her presence, her faith, her authenticity, her laughter, and all of her life experiences shine through when you are with her, whether it's as a member of her family, a friend, a business associate, or simply a passerby.  At one time or another, we have all felt deeply loved and richly blessed by her.

For a little over a year, Suzanne has been battling a rare and aggressive form of breast cancer, undergoing surgery, chemotherapy, radiation, clinical trials and alternative therapies. She has faced each protocol with hope, courage and the unwavering faith that we all know Suzanne possesses beyond measure. Rick and their family have been steadfast by her side, now care giving for her in a role that Suzanne has forever been accustomed to being herself. Since effective treatments for this type of cancer remain in clinical trials, her doctors are both amazed and perplexed by her prognosis. Without hesitation and in her own words, Suzanne will tell you that it’s her faith and the very powerful God she believes in that make her a radical survivor! She and her oncologist have decided her best course of action now is to wait. While Suzanne awaits her miracle, she chooses to live gently, love passionately, and choose joy every day.

As her friend, I have watched her endure more than most humans can only imagine with the ever-uncertain diagnoses, treatments and decisions. As if these were not enough, both Suzanne and Rick are self-employed which means that the financial burdens of extensive healthcare premiums and deductibles add to the exhaustive load that they face daily. While these uncertainties remain heavy on her heart, Suzanne continues to immerse herself into loving and caring for her family and friends, her professional care giving projects for those living with dementia, witnessing God’s love to all, as well as tending to her constant pain and self care.

So, it is now that this family could use our help. Knowing Suzanne and Rick as we do, I can assure you that any consideration to show support would be received by them with tremendous humility and gratefulness. Our gifts of love, no matter what the size, will help ease the burden of financial concerns so that Suzanne can focus on her healing and allow her family to walk daily with her through this battle.

From the very first moments of Suzanne’s diagnosis, she and Rick have felt the tremendous love and support of family, friends and even strangers. They are deeply thankful to all those who have shared a prayer, act of love, a meal, a ride to treatments and any other kindness shown over the course of Suzanne’s very unexpected cancer journey. It has not been easy for this family, who has lived humbly in service to others, to be on the receiving end of such selfless generosity. Please know that your love and kindness will never be forgotten by Suzanne and her family.
