Healing Sudan: Medical Aid and Hope Led by Mohanned

I’m organizing this fundraiser to support Mohanned, a kind kid who has grown into a determined young man. He comes from a family of educators and activists who have spent years leading initiatives for disabled children, for women, and others in need. Service is in his blood, and now he’s using that same spirit to respond to one of the greatest humanitarian crises of our time.

As a veteran educator, I’ve always believed that young people will lead us into a better future. I’ve spent my career trying to teach kids to take action when they notice a problem in the world. That’s exactly what Mohanned is doing—seeing suffering and stepping up to help.

Since the war erupted in Khartoum on April 15, 2023:

Mohanned is currently in Cairo, where he can access supplies that are no longer available in Sudan. He’s also preparing himself to be as effective as possible: he is completing ER emergency training and has already earned a medical analysis diploma, both to expand his knowledge and provide better care.

Why This Matters:

On the first day of Eid, April 21, a 10-year-old boy was shot in the chest while simply trying to visit friends. Mohanned encountered him outside in the chaos of that day. There was no hospital to take him to, and no doctor to call. With only a scrap of cotton, some gauze, and a small bottle of disinfectant, Mohanned—armed with basic emergency training—did what he could to keep the boy alive.

In many parts of Sudan, survival now depends on who happens to be there and what they happen to have in their hands.

Another little girl broke her finger when a door slammed shut while she was playing with her cousins. Her family cannot afford the surgery to fix it. Simple injuries, which should be treatable, become lifelong consequences because care is either unavailable or unaffordable.

The cost of healthcare keeps rising—and countless stories like these remain untold.

Our Goal:

If we reach $10,000, we can stock more clinics, support more surgeries, expand first-aid training, and feed more families.

شفاء السودان: رعاية طبية وأمل يقودها مهند من القاهرة

من القاهرة إلى السودان: نوصل الأدوية، العمليات، والأمل

أقوم بتنظيم هذه الحملة لدعم ابن عمي الأصغر، مهند – ذلك الطفل الطيب الذي أصبح شابًا مصممًا على مساعدة مجتمعه. يأتي مهند من عائلة من المربين والناشطين الذين قادوا مبادرات لدعم الأطفال ذوي الإعاقة والنساء وغيرهم من المحتاجين. خدمة الآخرين جزء من حياته، وهو الآن يستخدم هذا الإرث لمواجهة واحدة من أكبر الأزمات الإنسانية في عصرنا.

كمعلمة ذات خبرة طويلة، لطالما آمنت أن الشباب هم من سيقودوننا نحو مستقبل أفضل. أمضيت حياتي المهنية أحاول أن أعلّم الأطفال أن يتصرفوا عندما يرون مشكلة في العالم، وهذا بالضبط ما يفعله مهند الآن – يرى المعاناة ويتقدم ليساعد.

منذ اندلاع الحرب في الخرطوم في 15 أبريل 2023:

مهند موجود الآن في القاهرة، حيث يمكنه الحصول على مستلزمات طبية لم تعد متوفرة في السودان. وهو أيضًا يجهّز نفسه ليكون أكثر فعالية: فهو **يكمل تدريب الطوارئ ER**، وحصل بالفعل على **دبلوم في التحاليل الطبية** لزيادة معرفته وتقديم رعاية أفضل.

بمساعدتكم، يخطط لـ:

1. شراء الحقائب الطبية والأدوية** – المضادات الحيوية، مسكنات الألم، والمستلزمات الأساسية – وتوصيلها إلى المناطق التي دُمّرت فيها المستشفيات.

2. تمويل العمليات الجراحية العاجلة** للأطفال والعائلات الذين لا يستطيعون تحمّل تكاليفها.

3. دعم المطابخ المجانية المفتوحة** لتوفير الغذاء للأسر النازحة.

4. إطلاق مبادرة لتدريب الإسعافات الأولية** عند عودته للسودان – لتعليم الرعاية الطارئة الأساسية وتشكيل مجموعة متطوعين تساعد مجانًا أو مقابل تكلفة رمزية لتغطية المستلزمات.

لماذا هذا مهم؟

في أول أيام عيد الفطر، 21 أبريل، تعرّض طفل يبلغ من العمر 10 سنوات لإطلاق نار في صدره بينما كان يحاول ببساطة زيارة أصدقائه. صادفه مهند في الشارع وسط الفوضى. لم يكن هناك مستشفى لنقله إليه، ولا طبيب لاستدعائه. باستخدام قطعة قطن، قليل من الشاش، وزجاجة صغيرة من المطهر، فعل مهند – بمهاراته الأساسية في الإسعافات – كل ما بوسعه لإنقاذ حياته.

هذا هو واقع السودان الآن: البقاء يعتمد على من يكون موجودًا في تلك اللحظة وما الذي يحمله في يديه.

طفلة أخرى كسرت إصبعها عندما أغلق الباب على يدها وهي تلعب مع أقاربها. لم تتمكن أسرتها من تحمّل تكلفة العملية. إصابات بسيطة كهذه، والتي يفترض أن تكون قابلة للعلاج، تتحوّل إلى إعاقات دائمة لأن الرعاية غير متاحة أو لا يمكن تحمّل تكلفتها.

الحرب قد تكون في طريقها للتراجع، لكن تكلفة الرعاية الصحية ما زالت ترتفع – وهناك عدد لا يحصى من القصص مثل هذه لم تُروَ بعد.
