We are LaRaine's children, raising funds to get the treatment and care she needs to heal her Invasive Breast Cancer.

Our mom noticed a small lump under her breast a little over a year and a half ago. At first, she didn't want to worry anyone, so she tried to get help from doctors on her own, but ran into roadblock after roadblock since she knew she wouldn't be able to handle chemo or radiation.

LaRaine has struggled for many years with arthritis in her spine and with what we now know is called Hyperalgesia, an autoimmune disease that registers pressure as pain. As a result, testing and doctor's appointments have always been a great struggle and fear for her because she feels so much pain with these experiences.

This struggle made it incredibly hard for her to pursue testing independently, so in December 2021, she moved from Washington to seek out more help and support from family in Utah.

Since then, we have explored the available options in the United States that she could handle given the Hyperalgesia. We found several things for her treatment, some of which have helped her. However, one significant obstacle has been that her cancer has tested positive for HER-2, which is something that causes it to grow at an alarming rate. And as her mass increases, so does her pain.

It is now at the point where her mass has broken through her skin, and her pain level is so high that it has completely disabled her. Although she has a great team at home helping to take care of her everyday needs, because of how quickly the cancer has progressed, we knew we needed something more, and fast!

Our prayers were answered when we learned about a clinic called Immunotherapy Institute in Tijuana, Mexico. Some acquaintances of LaRaine's daughter Adinah received treatment there and are now cancer-free! We had a phone interview with the Oncologist there and knew right away it will work. LaRaine says she feels more hope than she ever has based on their available treatments and their patient-centered approach.

Immunotherapy is a new advanced therapy for healing cancer, where they find out which of the person's T-cells (immune cells) are needed to kill that particular cancer, replicate those cells in the millions externally then reintroduce them into the body to become the body's soldiers. At the clinic, this treatment is paired with a multitude of other treatments provided by a team of specialists, all designed specifically for the individual patient. It includes genetic testing, detoxification, nutrition, building the immunity, addressing psychology, and removing the tumor itself. We have the option to add treatments based on her tests and progress.

The oncologist explained that cancer isn't the problem itself, but a manifestation of a systemic (meaning the whole system) disease. Therefore, we trust that their methods to heal cancer will heal LaRaine from the other issues she has been suffering with.

We need to act immediately not only because of the HER-2, but because it is an outpatient care plan, so LaRaine will need to be accompanied. The only one who can go with her is Adinah, but she is pregnant, and her baby is due at the end of October. The intensive treatment takes 18 days, so we want to get it started on September 12th and get LaRaine and Adinah back to Utah by the first of October.

Honestly, we feel very hopeful right now because of how bad things have been for her; we have ALL gotten so determined for her to heal and not just cancer but everything, and we trust that this is the answer.
