Several years ago, our friend Julia Carrozza was diagnosed with cervical cancer. Ironically, being a nurse, she now became the patient and she fought the disease with determination. Julia has undergone several surgeries over the past few years because the cancer kept spreading and the affected areas needed to be removed. This year both of her ovaries were removed and she underwent chemotherapy as recommended by her physician.
During the 5 months of chemotherapy treatment, she was unable to work because her weakened immune system made her vulnerable to infection. She was confined to her home with little social interaction. Despite that, she still managed a smile while celebrating her last chemo session wearing a wig and holding a bottle of champagne!
Although she has subjected her body to multiple surgeries and chemotherapy in the hopes of positive news, her outcome is still unknown. Her form of cancer is unusual, her prognosis is uncertain, and she is facing the financial strain of cancer-related costs.
Our hearts go out to her because she has been handling this disease and its effects mostly by herself. She remains strong and never complains, but we know the the cancer has taken a toll on her financially, physically and emotionally.
To assist our friend, please join us for a "Beef and Beer" on November 17, 2018, from 1 - 5 pm at the Tiki Bar attached Romarco's Italian Restaurant, 451, E. Baltimore Ave, Clifton Heights, PA , rain or shine.
