HHHP has rescued 17 horses in the last two years and rehomed 7 to date. We have recently taken in a few that require some quick or extensive Medical care. This comes on top of normal spring vetting for the herd.
So while we rarely put out fundraisers like this, we are now to try to offset the already incurred, as well as forthcoming, medical costs.
We also have PayPal you donate to at [email editado]
Here is how the fundraising goal breaks down:
* $1,635 for spring vetting
* $ 500 for Hot Tamale gelding
* $ 1,100 for Taco Tuesday gelding
* $2,000 for Cody diagnostics
Background:
Hot Tamale: local rescue that was purportedly gelded. Nope. Tamale had a reaction to the ketamine and started seizing. While he was being sedated for gelding on the farm by ghevet. We spent $580 on this episode and brought him to the clinic for gelding under general anesthesia. That was an additional $598 (4/22)
Taco Tuesday: Taco came off a lot in New Jersey. He has an undescended testicle. As a result, his gelding will. E more invasive
a d costly. we've been quoted $1,110-$1,300 by Kendall Rd. Equine.
Are tiniest two rescues are $2400 to geld! Yikes!
Cody: a super sweet older boy also from a lot in NJ. Cody was described as "off in the rear" and boy was that an understatement. Cody is experiencing a neurological problem with a yet undiagnosed cause. We have spent $1,460 doing an ultrasound of his pelvis, blood work for various possibilities, neck X-rays and meds for EPM. We'd like to have him seen at Purdue Univetsity in an effort to definitively diagnose him. This will cost us well in excess of $2,000 but this amount will help us help him. Cody is one of the sweetest horses we've met and deserves to have every option explored. He was clearly loved and cared for once, then dumped when no longer useful to someone. We won't let him down.
We recently took in an owner surrender as well that had not been receiving medical attention for Moon Blindness and prolonged lameness. We immediately started him on meds and got him hock injections (4/22) and will evaluate further steps or needs next week. Blizzard is a super well-trained horse that once sound, will be an amazing horse for someone who wants to show as he's an experienced guy.
Our invoice for spring vetting is attached. Reducing it for the personally owned horses leaves $1,635.
You can find us on Facebook under Healing Hearts Hooves and Paws. We have a great volunteer group you can join as well if you are local - just message the page. We also have an eBay fundraiser underway by user "Never2manyk9".
We have submitted but not yet been granted 501(s)3 status.
We appreciate your help. If you can't donate, please share widely.
