Healing Hands for Edwina - My cancer battle
Everyday Aaron asks me, “Grandmommy are you feeling ok?” I smile and say yes. “Are you sure?” Then Madison will ask, “ Are you doubly sure?” And I laugh sometimes through the pain or discomfort trying to reassure them. However, at 9 and 6 years old their little eyes see everything and their hearts are so intuitive. Regardless of my answer some nights I see tears roll down their little cheeks. It is amazing to be loved like that. Breaking their hearts is the last thing I want to do. They are my motivation to fight.
I am a retired member of the law enforcement community having served 26 years. I married my high school sweetheart in 1981 and cancer has become one of the many storms my family and I have weathered in our 41+ years together. I have always exercised regularly, tried to maintain a balanced diet, I have never smoked or consumed alcohol in excess. Doctors have advised that it was nothing that I did or failed to do that caused the cancer. Despite this, I was diagnosed with Pseudomyxoma Peritonei in 2017, a rare form of cancer that originates in the ovaries (with me) or the appendix. After two surgeries and years of chemotherapy I have learned that conventional medicine is not always the answer and is not the only answer. Integrative medicine is my best opportunity to live the long [Psalm 91:16] and abundant [John 10:10] life that God promises. Health Insurance does not provide for this type of treatment as there is no money in it for them. The cost of one bi-weekly chemotherapy treatment is $88,575.90 for just one of the medications. Insurance through Medicare pays 80% of that, but will not cover any of the cost for holistic treatments or medications, which would be more beneficial and provide me and thousands like me a better quality and longer life. Some hospitals offer financial assistance while others do not quickly exhausting personal finances.
The Hope4Cancer Treatment Center offers the totality of care that I need: non-toxic therapies, nutrition, detoxification, oxygenation, emotional and spiritual support, immunomodulation and micro biome restoration. The facility is outpatient and the initial stay is three weeks or more depending on need. The cost for me is $45,000.00, which covers accommodations, transportation to and from the center, and meals for both patient and one caregiver, which is recommended, all treatments during the initial stay, to include a one year ‘home program’, access to a support team as well as two follow up visits to the center.
Healing from cancer requires a lifestyle change to create an environment in my body not conducive to cancer growth. This clinic will set me on that path and then assist me in maintaining it. I have been making the effort on my own, but need the structure and guidance of trained professionals.
I am asking you to be my healing hands. To be the hands that God moves through to provide for me the healing that conventional doctors and medicine could not. I need your prayers and I am grateful for them; however, I also need your works [James 2:14-17.] Please consider sponsoring a fundraiser on my behalf or giving a personal financial gift. Every donation regardless of amount is a blessing. I pray that you will be lead to give and if you are please act on it today as cancer does not take a moment off. My family and I thank you for the blessing that you are especially Aaron, Madison and I.
Gratefully,
