Healing Hampton's Heart

Donation protected
On March 17, 2017  Jessica and I (Joe) just found out we were having another little boy in August. We were excitedly running through a list of boy names, laughing, and waiting to talk to the doctor. Our normally happy, upbeat doctor came in the room with a somber look on her face and shared with us some news that we never expected to hear.

Fast forward through the next 5 months that were filled with endless appointments with maternal fetal medicine specialists, pediatric cardiologists, and a number of other doctors and nurses at the Medical University of South Carolina.

On August 13th 2017 our baby boy, Hampton Richard McDevitt, was born weighing 6lbs 12oz. He was offically diagnosed with tricuspid atresia, hypoplastic aortic arch and right ventricle, transpositon of the great artieries, ventricular septal defect, and atrial septal defect. Needless to say he has multiple congenital heart defects and without medical intervention would not be with us for very long. He was immediatly stabilized and taken to the Pediatic Cardiology Intensive Care Unit (PCICU) where he will be closely monitored.

With Hampton's medical condition, he will require a series of open heart surgeries over the next three years with his first surgery happening on Thursday, August 17th, 2017. His condition is not curable but with these surgeries we hope he will live a fairly normal life.

So many people have reached out to ask how they can help and we are grateful for all the support we have received so far. Our greatest need at this time will be financial and moral support as we will incur a large number of medical expenses through multiple surgeries, procedures, doctor visits, and a prolonged hosiptal stay at MUSC.

Given our circumstance, we feel so blessed and thankful for our son and want nothing more than to see him pull through this and live a thriving life. We will rely on our faith in our loving Heavenly Father and know that He has a plan for our lives and our baby boy's life even though we may not see it yet. Lastly, we are incredibly thankful for the entire staff of knowledgable and experienced doctors, nurses, techs that will play a pivotal role in providing Hampton with an oppotunity to live and thrive.

Thank you to all for your love and support. Our family will be forever grateful. God Bless.

Trust God... Period.
