Hi! We’re a group of students from Texas State University, and we’re raising funds to help save a Golden Retriever named Manning while also supporting Gold Ribbon Rescue, an incredible organization dedicated to rescuing, rehabilitating, and rehoming Golden Retrievers in Central Texas.
Since 1998, Gold Ribbon Rescue has worked tirelessly to give dogs a second chance, and through this campaign, we’re hoping to do the same for one very special dog: Manning.
Manning arrived at GRR on January 2, 2026 from a South Texas shelter. At just 3–4 years old, he was already facing serious medical challenges. He is currently heartworm-positive and has also been treated for anemia and Babesia, a tick-borne disease. His recovery requires ongoing medication, heartworm treatment injections, and continued veterinary care before he can be fully healthy and live his life to the fullest.
Even with everything he’s been through, Manning is incredibly sweet, playful, and full of personality. He’s always carrying around a toy, loves being close to people, and has a calm, affectionate nature. He recently moved into a foster-to-adopt home and has already formed a strong bond. Manning is so close to his forever home, but he needs some help getting healthy first.
April is Heartworm Awareness Month, and this campaign is not just about helping Manning—it’s also about raising awareness for all dogs affected by this preventable but serious disease. Every year, Golden Retrievers come into Gold Ribbon Rescue’s care needing treatment for heartworms, a completely preventable and treatable condition. These dogs need not only medical care, but also a calm, loving environment to heal. Your donations will directly support Gold Ribbon Rescue by helping to:
- Provide critical medical care and heartworm treatment for Manning
- Cover veterinary expenses, medications, and recovery needs
- Support GRR’s ongoing efforts for other dogs in need
- Promote awareness around heartworm prevention
As a group, we’re passionate about making a real impact, and we’re so grateful for any support you can give. Please consider donating or sharing this campaign, every dollar truly makes a difference!
Thank you so much for your support!
