Saving My Neck and My Life: Valerie’s Fight for Healing

I’m a mother, wife, grandmother, and a caregiver for elderly people with dementia. I’ve spent my life taking care of others—but now, I’m the one who needs help.

I’m facing a serious and frightening medical condition that requires urgent surgery at the base of my skull. My doctors have warned that even a minor misstep could lead to permanent paralysis. Because of the risks, I’ve been forced to stop working and won’t be able to return for quite some time.

This situation has created a heavy financial burden. I’m in pain every day and unable to safely do the things I love—including caring for others. With no income and mounting medical and living expenses, my family and I are struggling to stay afloat.
