Healing from Ramsay Hunt Syndrome

Hi, I am Chic Bangs. A wife, mother to a 10 year old, performing artist and DJ.

A few days after returning home from Art Basel in early December, I had an earache that wouldn’t go away.

On the evening of December 13th, paralysis on the right side of my face suddenly appeared. At my visit to Urgent Care the next day, I was diagnosed with Ramsay Hunt Syndrome.

It has been a very scary, painful, isolating and debilitating experience. While the paralysis has healed, on January 13th I began experiencing severe vertigo and vomiting. I’ve had dizziness ever since.

I’ve been unable to leave home, drive, work or do any of my normal routines since the beginning of December and the bills have been piling up. I’m not great at asking for help, but the emotional stress has taken a toll and I need help.

With the encouragement of friends, I’ve created this gofundme to support me during this difficult time.

The prognosis for Ramsay Hunt is uncertain, it can last months or longer depending on the person. Stress is a big factor in the healing process and I need help alleviating the financial worry. I’m fundraising to help with medical bills, treatments, regular bills and groceries.
