IV Treatment for Shelley

Donation protected
Shelley is suffering from Chronic Neurological Lyme Disease.

Teresa Woodie, Cynthia Hoosier, Tim Ratliff and Annette Raliff (sisters and brother to Shelley) are asking for support to get Shelley the treatments she needs.

After multiple misdiagnoses since 2015, Shelley's body has been under attack from Chronic Neurological Lyme Disease. Symptoms have progressed and intensified over the years. They include brain fog, confusion, chronic pain, severe weakness, blurred vision, seizures, sleep disturbances, muscle spasms, migraine headaches, dizziness and trouble with balance. Her central nervous and adrenal systems are affected, which has caused severe anxiety, depression, and thyroid issues. Shelley has not been able to work since 2016 and finally had to quit driving.

The treatment: Shelley receives a monthly three-week IV treatment and a one-week rest costing more than $10,000/month for at least five months. The total cost of these treatments will be more than $50,000. Along with these costly treatments, Shelley must make a monthly trip to Washington DC for Infectious Disease doctor appointments, supportive therapies and a host of other non-covered antibiotics and therapeutics. We anticipate the total for all treatments to be $60,000.

Shelley has health insurance, but the treatments are not covered as the CDC is only beginning to recognize the devastation of Lyme’s Disease.

Shelley is a graduate of Marshall University and has had a long career as a psychiatric nurse until she got sick. She is a wife and a mother of a wonderful 13-year-old daughter.

Shelley desperately wants to return to the life she once knew and be able to participate in her daughter's activities and experiences as she once did. When recovered, she would like to pay it forward and help others as she did before. She feels she is being prepared now to serve as a nurse advocate and help patients with Lyme while regaining her livelihood.

All funds received are to pay medical treatment costs. If there is any amount you can donate, we will be forever grateful to you as the costs are exorbitant. We pray every day for Shelley to get this treatment and be well. She has been through so much, she is super strong and courageous, and we are not giving up!

Thank you to everyone for all your prayers, love and support.
